With water that allows simple padding to no paddling to challenging paddling, this is truly the perfect sea kayaking destination. You could make your way into a number of narrow harbors such as Deer Island where you would discover a rocky forest that slopes gently down to the edge of thick seaweed. Overhead, it is common to see eagles soaring around or fishing jumping out of the water. Another area to sea kayak in Canada is Northwest Harbor, a magnificent place with a long, rocky beach that allows you opportunity to paddle into the country from Maine. There is even a place known as the Old Sow, which features the largest tidal whirlpool in the Western Hemisphere. In fact, every six hours for incoming and outgoing tides, the region between, Dog Island and Deer Island becomes alive with whirlpools, riptides, eddies, and on occasion, gyrating water that reaches upward to 20 feet. The largest whirlpool measures 250 feet across. You could also sea kayak around the New Brunswick coast or one of the favorite destinations on all of Canada – the Bay of Fundy. Some of the other favorite places in Canada for sea kayaking include Moose Island, which has been an area of boundary dispute for some time. However, the seawater there is what is absolutely, amazing. During the summertime, the water averages around 50 degrees and then in the winter, around 37. Keep in mind that anyone is welcomed to sea kayak in this area but there is a customs post on Deer Island, which means proper procedures must be followed. Now, this particular passage is not recommended for beginner se kayakers although those with intermediate experience would do fine. Expect to do quite a bit of paddling along this part of Canada so you need to be in good physical condition. You will find a number of options for sea kayaking trips in Canada. For instance, if you want something that is leisurely and relaxing where you can bird watch or hike, you will find some beautiful areas. However, if you prefer something more challenging or perhaps a sea kayaking trip where you can paddle up next to Humpback Whales, you will find those types of guide trips as well. Without doubt, Canada offers some of the best sea kayaking with magnificent water and scenery.
